An adventure if there ever was one.
Prepare for a long story, my friends. It was a long, long trip.  My journey from Liverpool to Labrador was one I can barely explain in words. My mother was with me from Liverpool to a little place called Campbellton in New Brunswick. Unfortunately because of the lack of flights leaving Labrador, my dearest mom was unable to make the entire journey with me. There should be a book released on our...

On the road.
Although my entire two-day journey I just had probably deserves an entry or blog or book or something of its own, here are some pictures of the roads from New Brunswick to Labrador City. The trip did begin in Nova Scotia, but due to torrential downpours, there are no photos from the beginning of the expedition.  This was one of the most beautiful drives I’ve ever taken. The pictures really...

One last adventure.
This is pretty delayed. I had a few fun photo expeditions with fellow photographer friends Brittany (website here, blog here) and Evan (blog here), and we snuck in one last outing before I left Liverpool. Slushies in hand, we were off. Journeying to an abandoned satellite station was certainly an interesting experience. We arrived just as the most beautiful light had begun covering the...

One year of stories.
Well, it’s official. I have left my very first big kid newspaper job, and the little Nova Scotian South Shore town I called home this past year. It’s hard to believe I had been at the Queens County Advance for a year. Well, technically it was a bit longer, since my one-year Liverpool anniversary came and went with July too quickly for me to write a detailed entry about. Anyways. In my...

Medway River Stables
A little on the delayed side, but life is getting the best of me and leaving no time for blogging (I supposed I can’t complain. I’m not sitting home alone every night with the internet as my only friend and pastime in the world…) I got the chance to hang out with Livia at Medway River Stables for a couple of days for a story I was doing. I could have taken...

BABY
Say hello to baby James! Proud creation of newlyweds Sabrina and (big) James. Little James and I had some fun one-on-one babysitting time together, so of course I had to bust out the camera. Taking pictures of such a little person is harder than I expected!  Lookin’ at you with those big blue eyes, being all adorable one minute…then on the move crawling away and threatening the life...

Some nature.
Went on a mini nature trek with my dad when I was home in Dundas briefly last weekend. He mostly wanted to show me a bird he had been watching the past few months…the name escapes me now (some kind of heron I think) but it looks like a grumpy old man. Just sitting by the water, hunched over, with a bird-like scowl. Spotted a second hanging out in one of the trees. Of course we saw some...

Surfing!
I recently had the opportunity to do something I never thought I would see myself attempt…surfing!   My boss Nick got an offer from White Point Beach Resort to go out with a ‘virgin surfing group’ (being a group consisting of individuals who have never surfed before, if you didn’t catch that). I was originally tagging along just to take some photos to go along with the...

Privateer Days.
During my first journey down to check out Privateer Days, I had the opportunity to attend an Aboriginal gathering called Kepapskitk at the museum in Liverpool. The dancer was beautiful, and performed to both a song written and played by her father, as well as the typical Native American celebration-ish music.  I also got to witness my very first smudging ceremony (not counting the smudging I...

Oxen!
I went to an ox pull a while ago. Oxen are such big oafs of creatures, moseying along oblivious to what is happening around them. I felt a little bad for them though when they were actually pulling their weights, although many of them did have fancy headwear.  As I was driving away, this guy looked at me unconcerned with his jaw hanging open. What a goofy animal.

Went to cruise Summerville Beach while my friend Cam was down for a visit. Anytime I have someone come from Ontario to grace me with their presence, I like to take them here. Mostly because I personally never get sick of it. I hope I never ‘get used’ to the ocean. I love when I see elderly people being cute, and are so obviously still infatuated with one another.  Dirty,...

More Allison.
A few more pictures of the short-lived photo expedition Allison and I went on earlier this week. We probably chose the worst possible time to take our pictures, but the sun and clear blue skies got us pretty gung-ho on going right that instant. Putting us smack dab in the middle of pre-sunset brutal light.  It wasn’t so bad though. At least we were nice and warm, even right by the...
